Costa Smeralda-Weather conditions

Northern Sardinia is hot and dry from May to October but often with fresh winds due to its position, near Corsica, giving rise to the "Venturi effect" especially when the wind comes from the NW (as it usually does), the famous mistral. For this reason it is the favorite destination of true sailing enthusiasts.

The island is affected by many winds, first of all the mistral, and it is not uncommon to have 10 knots per day (thermal winds), which can reach up to 30 for 3-5 days even in June and July. August is calmer but can have some thunderstorms, although the usual weather is warm and calm.
